Who Am I & Character Duel

Privacy notice for Who Am I & Character Duel

Updated: 18 October 2026. This notice covers the Who Am I & Character Duel app and its own information website. It does not automatically cover other Dali AI services.

1. Who is responsible

Dali AI GmbH, Wassergrabe 4, 6210 Sursee, Switzerland, CHE-410.112.306, provides Who Am I & Character Duel and is your contact for the app, website and support processing described here. Contact: kontakt@dali-ai.ch; telephone +41 77 259 86 57.

You decide which images to use in your private group. The absence of storage on a Dali server does not remove the rights of people shown in pictures. Google, operating system providers and stores also process data under their own responsibility when providing their services.

2. What is stored on your device

Who Am I & Character Duel does not require a Who Am I & Character Duel server account. It stores your nickname, selected avatar or profile photo, technical player, room and session identifiers, selected photos, game state and language preference. Round identifiers, the UTC month and a flag for Plus starts remain locally stored for the free round limit. This prevents double counting on reconnection; the register survives the end of a session.

The system photo picker gives Who Am I & Character Duel only the files you select. Who Am I & Character Duel creates smaller app copies. A normalized full-image copy is also kept locally so you can adjust crops; only the cropped game copy is sent to other players. Your collection, profile and saved session are encrypted in app storage. The operating system’s protected key store manages the keys. Photo, library and session files are excluded from regular app backups. This does not affect originals in your photo library or their own cloud and backup settings.

A lobby contribution does not automatically enter your personal collection. You save it permanently by importing directly into the collection or choosing “Save to collection”. Who Am I & Character Duel has no cloud storage for recovering these photos.

Who Am I & Character Duel also stores a random safety identifier for this app installation and locally blocked devices with a nickname and block date. The identifier is shared within joined groups so a block can be recognised in later sessions; it is not a Who Am I & Character Duel account or proof of identity. Blocks remain until you unblock the device or remove app data. Reinstallation, another device or older app versions can limit or bypass recognition.

3. Who can see your game information

The connection uses Google Nearby over technologies such as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. During discovery, the host’s nickname, room code and technical session identifier are visible to nearby devices before you confirm the security code. Choose a nickname without confidential information and compare the code with the right person.

After joining, the host receives your selected game images. In “Who am I?”, each display device receives its assigned card. In “Guess the Character”, both devices receive the same board of 12 to 30 images. Nicknames and profile images are visible in the session. Your secret character and covered cards in Guess the Character remain in the local saved game and are not sent to other players.

Who Am I & Character Duel does not operate its own game photo server. Other people can photograph or record visible screens. Shared images and offline copies cannot reliably be recalled centrally from other people’s devices.

4. Google Nearby and technical diagnostics

On Android, Who Am I & Character Duel uses the Google Play services Nearby SDK. Google describes collecting discovery and connection latency, reliability, throughput, device model, country, build version and application package name to improve the service. You can allow or deny this collection in Android Settings → Google → Usage & diagnostics; labels may differ by device. Source and further information: https://developers.google.com/nearby/connections/overview .

For Google services in the EEA and Switzerland, Google generally identifies Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland; for other regions, Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. Google’s terms determine the entity applicable to your service or account. Google may process data on servers in other countries, particularly the USA. Google explains adequacy decisions, the EU–US and Swiss–US Data Privacy Frameworks and, where required, standard contractual clauses at https://policies.google.com/privacy/frameworks . Details of collection, retention, countries and settings are at https://policies.google.com/privacy and https://policies.google.com/faq . We do not claim that this Google processing is confined to Switzerland.

On iOS, Who Am I & Character Duel uses a separate open source Nearby integration. The included iOS version does not enable a Nearby analytics service; technical messages may appear in the local operating system log. The Android setting described above concerns Google Play services. Your operating system’s diagnostic and permission settings remain separate.

5. Operating systems, stores and Plus status

Apple and Google process download, account and, where applicable, transaction data under their own platform terms and privacy notices. Who Am I & Character Duel uses store interfaces to retrieve available offers and check existing entitlements. On iOS, the app uses store-provided information such as product identifiers, valid entitlements and revocation. The Android integration queries the catalogue and existing purchases but does not activate purchases or Plus without production verification. Paid sales are not currently enabled. Who Am I & Character Duel does not collect payment card details.

An existing verified Plus entitlement is taken into account locally; the group receives the allowance and Plus status needed to authorize a round. Another player’s premium status does not grant you access. On expiry or revocation, an existing personal profile photo remains privately stored but is no longer displayed or sent as your profile. Your collection is not deleted for this reason.

Who Am I & Character Duel has no advertising tracking of its own, no marketing analytics SDK and no runtime AI for generating images or text. Comic illustrations are prepared files; Who Am I & Character Duel does not send your photos to an AI model.

6. This information website

The dedicated information website friends.dali-ai.ch is a static site delivered through Cloudflare Workers and the Cloudflare network. The provider is Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. When you visit, Cloudflare processes technical connection data such as IP address, requested URL and HTTP headers for delivery and security. We have configured no storage of individual requests of our own, no Logpush and no Worker observability logs for this site. The pages use no cookies of their own, JavaScript, forms, audience analytics or externally embedded fonts or media. Cloudflare may instruct browsers to send technical network error reports containing the requested URL, error and network details to Cloudflare. This does not transfer game photos.

Cloudflare operates globally; processing exclusively in Switzerland is not promised. Cloudflare identifies the USA and EEA in particular as storage locations, with possible access from elsewhere globally. For protected international transfers, Cloudflare describes its EU–US and Swiss–US Data Privacy Framework certifications and standard contractual clauses with the required additions. Roles, safeguards and retention are explained at https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/ and https://www.cloudflare.com/cloudflare-customer-dpa/ . Cloudflare’s own operational and security data follows the retention criteria described there; we have configured no additional retention of individual requests of our own.

We use this connection processing to serve the page you request securely and reliably. If you follow a link to dali-ai.ch or another external site, that site’s notices apply; the separate company website has different features and privacy information at https://dali-ai.ch/datenschutz.html .

7. When you contact us

If you email us, we process your contact details, message, technical information about your request and voluntary attachments to reply, resolve problems and, where necessary, exercise rights or meet obligations. Our @dali-ai.ch mailbox is received and stored at Hostpoint AG, Neue Jonastrasse 60, 8640 Rapperswil-Jona, Switzerland. Your own email provider and transmission services are involved in delivery.

Please avoid sending private game photos and do not send intimate or unlawful images. We generally retain contact enquiries for three years after the last contact, in line with our existing company notices. Statutory retention, ongoing proceedings or the enforcement of claims may require longer retention limited to that purpose.

“Report a problem” only creates an email draft for you to review in your mail app. Who Am I & Character Duel attaches no photos and sends nothing automatically. We receive the information you choose only if you send the message yourself. If you choose “Copy text”, your report text is placed on your operating system’s clipboard.

8. Purposes and legal grounds

We use data to provide the local game features you choose, secure connections, resume games, manage the free allowance and entitlements correctly, serve this website and handle enquiries and legal matters. We do not sell your personal data or use game photos for advertising or AI training.

Where the GDPR applies, processing necessary for your requested app use or enquiry relies on contract or steps before a contract (Article 6(1)(b)); security and legitimate support or legal defence interests rely on Article 6(1)(f); legally required processing relies on Article 6(1)(c). Where consent is legally required, this notice does not replace it. Your contract does not automatically permit using another person’s photo. Platform providers have their own legal grounds for their own processing.

9. Retention and deletion

Session data remains locally available for resuming until the session ends and is cleared on the relevant device. Devices that stay offline may clear it later. Ending a session does not delete your personal collection, profile or local round register. You can remove collection images individually; delete a personal profile photo by selecting a comic avatar. This does not delete originals in your photo library or copies already selected, shared or recorded separately.

Full uninstallation removes the app container; offloading may keep documents. Operating system key stores and store transactions have separate lifecycles. Uninstalling does not cancel a store subscription. Device loss, missing keys or uninstallation may cause permanent loss of local photos. Encryption and backup exclusion cannot protect against every device compromise or recording of visible content.

10. Your privacy rights

You can contact kontakt@dali-ai.ch regardless of your country. Under applicable law you may request access, correction or deletion and, where applicable, restriction, portability and objection. You can withdraw consent for the future. Where processing relies on legitimate interests, you can object on grounds relating to your particular situation. We respond within statutory deadlines; for data we cannot technically access, we explain local options rather than pretend to access your or someone else’s device.

You may complain to a competent data protection authority. In Switzerland this is the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), https://www.edoeb.admin.ch . In the EEA, this includes the authority where you live or work. This notice does not limit additional mandatory rights where you live.

11. Age and changes

Who Am I & Character Duel is intended for people aged 13 and over, not children under 13. Only share images you may use in your group and respect the rights of people shown. If features or data flows change materially, we update this notice and inform you in time about any additional choices required. Publishing a new version is not blanket consent to new purposes.

Who Am I & Character Duel does not verify age or request a date of birth or identity document. The age statement describes the intended audience; the privacy notice and game rules are freely accessible in the app.
